“There are no false casts when you drive a golf ball”

I was having a conversation with my friend Jim Solomon and he made this analogy, I thought it was great! What does this mean, well we do a casting exercise where we allow the proper amount of fly line laid in a straight line in front of you, then with one pick-up/haul and one forward haul release, you shoot try to shoot as much fly line as you can throw. with no tailing loops. This exercise leaves you little room for error, you must deliver a solid back cast and forward cast with a smooth and powerful acceleration to a distinct stop or it just doesn’t work. it’s just like driving a golfball… This is a great exercise for making a quick cast to a bonefish or tailing permit when you feel the need for speed….
